Quick one guys:

My household has a room up for grabs as of 1 June 2013. You’ll be living with two 29 year olds and a cat in a inner eastern suburb. Rent’s $570 per calendar month plus bills.

We’re an LGBTQ friendly house (realistically we’re everything except douche bag behaviour, smokers and loud people friendly). Room isn’t furnished, we can’t have more pets and you need to be employed (part time is fine - we’re both full time students with jobs ourselves). We’re after someone roughly our own age and gender is irrelevant.

I think with the more weight I lose, the more angular my face will look. At least that is what I’m hoping for.

Also, if I can schedule my hysterectomy, I’ll stop having estrogen pumped into my body. After going through the “proper” channels, I hope to begin taking testosterone by next year.

My mother is so worried that with all these changes, I won’t want to be around her as much. I asked her why she thought that and she said that generally, men never want to hang out with their mothers.

I told her that me wanting to spend time with her will never change. Society teaches men that it makes you weak if you are too clingy with your mothers. I don’t have that preconceived notion. I am happy to be a mama’s boy.

I love my mother and that will never change, regardless of what I look like on the outside.

I want to start therapy and I want her to come with me.

Positive steps towards reaching my true self. I feel like I am getting there.

A great article by a professional Arachnologist explaining that if you think you’ve ever been bitten by a spider, you are probably if not definitely mistaken, which is common knowledge to people who understand these animals.

Too bad the idea of spiders regularly biting people is so deeply ingrained in everyone else’s mind.

Seriously you could live in a house with thousands of them and never get bit in your entire life. Not once. That’s exactly the case for one family who lives in a house crawling with recluses.

I just want to give my two cents on this and tell you a story.

A couple weeks ago, I was hired at Target. I have a job at Target. Not a big deal right?

It is a big deal because i’m a transman.

It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that it’s hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to get a job. There are legal restraints regarding the job and if you don’t pass, it’s hard to be taken seriously at a job interview.

Right on the application, it asks what your preferred name is. It also asks if there is anything that target should know. I put the fact that I am a transman, expecting not to get a call because usually when you put that down, people will throw out the application. I got TWO interviews.

At the interview, they asked me about it. I told them I am on hormones and they told me that they didn’t care. Not in the sense that they don’t emotionally care, but that it didn’t matter. I was male and that’s all that mattered. They also told me that they give sex same couples benefits in states that do not recognize them as a married couple.

At my job orientation, I was not misgendered once. Even my supervisors who weren’t sure of my gender avoided pronoun use, which I found only happens when you’ve had pronoun training. They gave me a name tag with my preferred name and didn’t ask questions. I felt safe and respected, which is huge for a trans* person.

TLDR: Target is amazing not just for the LGB, but also the T. Shop there for the rest of your life.
